These flags score marks on 2 fronts: 1 - they're well attached to the pins; so many flags from other vendors have numerous flags that fall off out of the pack, or after a few days in the desert sun. 2) the flag material itself seems to be able to withstand a year or more of the intense Sonoran Desert sun without turning too crispy.

I use this product for 18 years to record cultural resources. These resources usually occur in open sagebrush settings. The 30" wire allows the flag to be seen over most sagebrush. The 36" wire may even be better for visibility, but I think there may be more issues with carrying that long of a flag in backpacks in brushy terrain. I also use the 4X5" white flag. The large flag shows up well in photographs, especially on larger sites. A couple of people on the crew have some color blindness, and the white shows up well against the vegetation for them while orange and red (and for some color sighted people - Yellow) are difficult to see in those settings. Insertion in the ground is easy, but they can take a beating from high winds. I have left some flags in the ground for a year and they have become one with the ground. Very hard to pull. The flags are moderately tear resistant and are attached well to the wire. Five to ten of the flags detach per one hundred after a year or two of use.
