These are my go-to bags for soil and sediment sampling, and smaller rocks as well. They work great on saturated Histosols and fluid subaqueous soils, you just need to fold the lip of the bag over to keep the zipper clean as you fill it (and honestly, they're forgiving even if I skip that step sometimes). They are strong and reasonably leak and puncture resistant, and the white sides are invaluable for labeling out in some fetid marsh. I will say that out of the 1000 bags, there are always a few defective bags that won't zip, but not really enough to impact my rating.

These bags are absolutely great! I use most of mine for soil samples of all kinds, including soaking wet hydric soils, and dry gravelly soils covered with sharp carbonate pendants. I freeze many of the wet soils in these bags. They hold up well to it all. The white material on one side makes labeling easy, and labels persistent if you use a permanent marker.
