AMS Soil Step Probe, 12˝L x 7/8˝ dia. Slot
The 10˝L cross handle is easy to grip and the built-in step lets you use additional pressure to drive the probe into even stubborn ground. 7/8˝ dia. x 12˝L nickel-plated probe cuts a 1/2˝ soil core. Heavy-wall 4130 chrome-molybdenum steel tool has a hardened tip for better soil penetration and superior durability. 33˝L Step Probe has a removable, threaded handle with a 5/8˝ NC connection, which allows disassembly for easier storage and transport. Plus, with the handle removed, you can attach a slide hammer to penetrate hard soil.

I take soil samples all the time and this tool really changed things for me. Its easy to carry around and takes a nice clean core every time. The handle is sturdy and feels well made. It is one of the most used tools in my tool box.
