I needed this product for field research and was at first pleased with its magnification capabilities but soon found the construction of the microscope to be of extremely poor quality. Most notably, the screws holding the base became rusty despite my keeping the microscope clean and dry, and the extension piece became wobbly and unstable after a few uses. Nikon purports a lifetime warranty for this microscope, which I confirmed with a tech over the phone, but when I sent it in for repairs I was given a bill for $260 and told that the rusty screws were not covered! Half the cost of the microscope to replace two rusty screws and stabilize the extension on the base! Buyer Beware. If you are shopping for a field microscope, take my advice and look for another brand.
