First, I like the box itself. Well-designed and easy access for clean out and banding.
However, I am rating this duck house as a poor rating due to the terrible attachment design. Both boxes deployed in 2022 have fallen to the ground in May-June 2023. In both instances the stapled on nailer strip came off from the back wall, remaining in the tree.
If you purchase, I strongly recommend securing a heavier nailer strip with screws and ditching the included board.

We love this duck house! We put it up on our lakeshore in January and we now have a wood duck hen laying in it! Seems like just the perfect thing for our wood ducks.

Does the preditor guard come with the wood duck box
The Cypress Wood Duck Nesting Box (Item #35938) does not include a predator guard. The guard is sold separately as an optional accessory for post or tree mounting. The compatible guard is the Woodlink 22" Wrap-Around 4 x 4 Post Mount Baffle (Item #35867). It prevents snakes, raccoons, and other predators from raiding the box and is made of powder-coated steel designed to fit standard 4 x 4 posts.
Does this come with the guard shown beneath the box?
The Guards are not included with the box itself. They can however be purchased separately. Item #'s 35867 and 35890.
Do these Cypress Wood Duck Boxes require painting or some type of finish or can they be put out plain like they are in the picture above?
The boxes can be used just like they are without any modification.
