Features the legendary Maine wedge pattern! Forged from 1050 carbon steel, this axe is tempered to a Rockwell hardness of 56-58 to maintain its edge. Adding to the historical accuracy of the axe, the year of manufacture and the temperer’s initials are embossed on the 2.5 lb. axe head. 28˝ Amish-turned hickory handle. Leather sheath included. Made in USA.

It was a lil scary buying such an expensive axe, but in this case you really get what you pay for. The handle is straight grained and has a coat of linseed oil (not lacquered). The head is a classic Maine design that has been cutting and chopping great.
