Hot Shield Ultimate Bandanna UB-V2

Ideal for wildland firefighters, this bandanna is made of CarbonX® fabric which has a heat resistance up to 2,600°F. The lightweight bandanna requires no filter insert and reduces the inhalation of large airborne ash and smoke particulate. The bandanna does not reduce vapors. Velcro® fasteners allow for quick donning. To clean, simply rinse in water and place in dryer on high heat. Top measures 23˝.

I use mine for prescribed fire, and since I carry the torch, I’m usually closer to heat and smoke in the beginning of the burn. It gives me great cover when used with goggles.

My comment is "use technology don't get lost in it". In wildland fire fighting the use of technology that lets you get too close to the radiant heat and more importantly convective heat is a dead end. Know your Hauling Chart!!! PS Fire Characteristics Chart showing rate of spread and flame length with suggested tactical actions. Too many have been injured and or killed do to lack of knowledge and over dependence of technology.
