Students will analyze macroinvertebrate species, hair samples, glass samples, lip prints, DNA data, and other assorted clues as they try to deduce why someone would have attacked a woman while she was taking samples at Crystal Creek. This cross-curricular kit even engages middle school students in an engineering design project with design modifications. Includes materials for 30 students, digital teacher’s manual, student worksheets, fake Facebook® pages, suspect videos, and answer keys. May be completed as a cross-curricular unit in 5 days or extended to a year-long project, afterschool club or summer camp. Requires a microscope, not included. Grades 6-8. Easily adapted for high school use. Meets common core and STEM standards.
