I was leery of the anvil cutter, but I bought it because the handles plus cutter are a single steel piece which will never fail unlike mine which gradually peeled steel at the joint until my fingers got pinched between the handles, and for the shortness which would be handy to back-pack or climb a tree with, and for the power of the ratchet. I have been stunned by the force of the ratchet which (in spite of the short handles) far exceeds the force of the largest lopper I could find (mostly for the very long handles for leverage force) (with a claimed cut diameter of 3 in.), which has been a boon after I injured my back. (Remember to hold the anvil handle still while moving the blade-ratchet handle, and watch to see the ratchet engage the next indent, to avoid failing to advance the ratchet). I easily cut diameters that I've never done before.
