I never thought that I would be excited about a soil sampler, but here I am. After using inferior samplers with thin walls and a hollow tube for a handle and destroying three of them throughout a season I started looking for something more substantial. When you have to take six samples per acre over 3,000 acres... 18,000 samples for fertilizer recommendations, you tend to find one that you look forward to using. The hammer head top is a great idea, handle is sturdy, the tube is heavy gauge, the window covers the root zone for freestanding fruit trees, and the replaceable tip is great for if you have run into rocks and don't want to buy another entire probe. I used one for the last two years and only replaced the tip twice. I can't say enough good stuff about this product, it is the product that was born out of necessity.
