Great product, and if one needs precision field measurement short of surveying, this is great. BUT - a couple of caveats.
1. Product information: I purchased this Suunto combo due to the declination adjust. The product descriptions add little else about it. The "Documens" section does not have a User Guide.
2. Suunto is the leading precision manufacturer. But they've made some minor quality changes to save a dollar or two [on a $200-dollar precision instrument!!]. 1rst- no brass ring to hold the lanyard. 2nd - Second, I HATE the VERY SMALL plastic tool for declin adjust - it can only be clipped onto the lanyard by friction, and will certainly be lost. 3rd - Suunto's Website has NO detailed User Manual.

I was not given this as a gift; I had purchased it. When I first discovered uses for it I tried using it for other things.when camping I mark trees and use it to remember the way back so I dont get lost; when doing survivalist training I use the compass to mark where my caches are at.
