Nelson Super Spot Tree Marking Paint, Blue Gallon

Resists settling, even after long storage. Requires minimal stirring or straining and helps eliminate plugged guns and wasted paint. High visibility, does not absorb into bark. I used this product for years, often spraying between 60-100 gallons per year. It sprays nicely through trecoder guns, lasts a very long time on the trees, and is highly visible (blue). Unfortunately, being solvent based, after about 3 quarts it would at best make me dizzy as hell, and other times would give me a severe headache and a few times after spraying 2 gals in a day produced a bloody nose. This is not good for your health. I switched to Bark Mark and MUCH prefer it as it pours easier, smells better, is still highly visible, though does not last quite as long on trees. I get a good 3 years out of bark mark, whereas I remember 5-6 years out of Nelson. I still use Nelson for boundary paint.

Over 40 years of timber marking and this remains the best paint for me. I have tried others; and every time I cuss the stuff and come back to the Nelson super spot. Great cold weather paint; flows well and clogs little. Even if it costs a bit more than other formulations this is the most economical owing to coating ability and lack of problems. Good stuff and very visible.

I use a panama stainless backpack gun. Ive used many types and brands of marking paint; and Nelson super spot is superior to all others. This paint has many advantages over other products: higher visibility; runs well through the gun; requires less paint to make a visible mark on any tree surface (moss; rough bark; etc.); and it lasts longer in the woods. I average 12-15 acres per gallon with this paint; and only 6-8 acres per gallon with other products due to their inferior coverage qualities. Spending a bit more for the quality of this product will put dollars in your pocket by giving you more time in the woods covering more ground and less time shaking paint and refilling your gun.

What is the shelf life of nelspot paint?
What is the shelf life of nelspot paint?
There is not a stated shelf life, but we recommend you check any paint that has been sitting for more than 18-24 months. If you do have some that has begun to harden, or thicken up, you can use paint thinner to get it back to usable shape. When storing paint try to keep in an environment with stable temperatures where it is out of direct sunlight and will not freeze.
